All the key questions about our service!
Removal becomes necessary when wisdom teeth do not have enough room in the jaw and therefore cause pain, inflammation, decay in neighbouring teeth, cysts or shifting of teeth. Sometimes preventive removal makes sense to avoid future problems.
The procedure itself is pain-free thanks to local anaesthetic. If needed, we also offer treatment under conscious sedation or general anaesthetic. After the operation, there may be slight swelling and pain, but this can be easily controlled with painkillers and subsides within a few days.
The initial healing phase usually takes about 7 to 10 days. During this time, swelling and discomfort subside. Complete bone healing can take several weeks to months. We give you detailed aftercare instructions.
For the first few days after the removal, you should avoid physical exertion, hot food and drinks, smoking and alcohol. Cooling your cheek and eating soft food are recommended. We give you precise instructions for the days after the operation.
Yes, it is often possible and even advisable to remove all four wisdom teeth in one session, especially if sedation or anaesthesia is wanted. This reduces the number of procedures and the overall recovery time. We discuss this with you individually.
